Calling All Architects & Engineers! 360 Sync Now Connects With Newforma!
Written By Michael Reuter
Tell me if you’ve heard this one before: your general contractor uses a Common Data Environment that you don’t use. Maybe it’s Procore or BIM 360 or Autodesk Build or SharePoint. But whatever it is, your firm doesn’t use it & you’re being forced to use it every day on the construction project you’re managing.

So that means that you’re going to have to update your files & save them locally. Then update your files in Newforma. Then, you have to update those files in the General Contractor’s (GC) software of choice.

Then, when the GC sends you an RFI or Submittal, then you have to input that information into your system, respond, and then send the information back & update everything else along the way.

It’s a pain in the butt & a huge time killer. You’re doing the same bit of work 2, 3 or even 4 times. Sound familiar?

Don’t waste time doing double- or triple-data entry. Use 360 Sync with Newforma instead!

360 Sync can now connect to the Newforma Project Center, allowing you to seamlessly & automatically upload or download files to/from Newforma either on demand (by clicking a button at any time) or automatically (on a schedule).

Uploading Files to Newforma has never been easier

Keep your Newforma Project Center site up to date with the Project by uploading files from your server, SharePoint, Autodesk, etc. to Newforma.

Connect your GC’s data source to your Newforma project & ensure that you have the most up to date files, drawings & documents from the Construction Team.

Downloading Files from Newforma is also a piece of cake

Update the GC’s data source with your updated information by exporting your Newforma files to Procore, BIM 360, Bluebeam Studio Projects & many more data sources. Send your updated drawings, models, or RFI & Submittal documents in Newforma to your GC as soon as they’ve been modified.

Project Management > File Management

No matter what, where, or how often you need your files updated, 360 Sync can help you accomplish the task. Just update your data source of choice (whether it be Newforma, Autodesk Docs, Procore, SharePoint, your server, etc.) & then 360 Sync will copy your information everywhere else.

This will save you a ton of time – our customers estimate it saves everyone on the project 30 minutes to an hour a day - anyone who manages files will be freed up to work on more important things.

Here’s how it works:
  • Install 360 Sync on your computer & setup a connection to Newforma.
    1. Type in your Newforma username & then find your Client ID & Client Secret

  • You can get the Client ID & Secret by pulling the Service Access Key from a Newforma Admin.
    1. log into Newforma & click on your profile in the top right corner.
    2. Then select, “Generate Service Access Key.”
    3. This will give you the codes to setup a Newforma connection.

  • Once you’ve found those codes, copy them into 360 Sync & hit connect.
It’s that simple!

Then you’re on your way to syncing your data between Newforma & any of the other data sources we connect to.

Sound good?

Tips to Improve Safety On Site

Safety shouldn’t be something that management talks about, but doesn’t enforce. Jobsite safety should take precedence over every other aspect of your company, and if it is not a priority in your company, it needs to be. Making safety the most important thing not only helps to reduce costs, but it can also improve productivity on site. Because accidents lead to additional costs as well as delays in projects, when you make safety a priority, you lessen the chances of accidents occurring on site, and you save money in the process.

360 Sync Error Blog: Index was out of range

Usually, what happens when you see an “Index was out of range” error, it’s because (1) your root folder was deleted or changed names, (2) there is already a folder or a file name in the destination location & there can’t be 2 files or folders with the same name, (3) the file or folder name contains a restricted character (like < > ^ \ / ), or in some rare cases, (4) a folder was inadvertently uploaded as a file.

How To Build A Best In-Class Fab Shop

There are many advantages to improving your fab shop, one being efficiency. A fab shop should be a structured outlet designed to efficiently organize material and easily send it out to contractors on the field. Having a best in-class fab shop will create a more efficient system that helps your company. Another benefit of having a best in-class fab shop is safety. Because the fab shop is operating in an organized and efficient manner, it won’t be necessary to have as many people working in the shop. And as a result, Bauman explained that, “the less people you have on a jobsite, the safer it is.” To go along with this, improving your fab shop leads to more organization, which allows you to complete the same amount of work with less people and save money in the process.
